Quan Yin is the embodiment of compassion and friendship, and She can hear the crying of every living being. Quan Yin is also known as the Goddess of Mercy. She is a virgin goddess who will protect women, is a patroness of the sea, supports the ones who ask for help and hears every prayer.
Quan Yin is depicted holding a vase with long life nectar. Also she often is depicted holding a twig from the weeping willow, known for its trailing leaf branches that hang down to the ground and through which the raindrops drip like tears. It is said that Quan Yin is the representation of the same energy as Mary and Tara. She is also called 'Maria of the East'.
