The origin of Grapefruit is a mystery. Most likely the grapefruit is a genetic blend of the pumelo fruit and the sweet orange; giving it a wonderfully sharp, citrus aroma unlike any other.

Grapefruit essential oil is extracted from tiny pockets of oil in the skin of the fruit. The peel is pressed, releasing a burst of sharp citrus oil with an underlying sweetness.

This detoxifying oil is often used in cleansing and clarifying aromatherapy treatments. When used in massage, Grapefruit can help stimulate kidney function and rid the body of excess fluid.

Used in a diffuser or aromatherapy roll on, Grapefruit can sharpen concentration, improve mental clarity and help to boost self-confidence.

Directions

Massage: Dilute the essential oil first. To do this mix up 5 drops of pure essential oil, or blend of oils per 10ml (1 tablespoon) of vegetable oil or lotion blending base. Bathing: Add 3-5 drops of essential oil, or blends of oil the agitate the water. If applied in a massage blend, wait 12 hours before exposing skin to strong UV light or sunlight. Avoid contact with sensitive areas, such as eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use this essential oil on children under 5 years old. Consult your healthcare professional before using essential oils during pregnancy. Best kept in a cool dry place. Naturally occurring allergens: Citral, Limonene and Linalool.
