Do you fancy a cup of herbal tea?

Herbal teas have long been celebrated not only for their diverse flavours but also for their potential health benefits. Derived from a mix of dried fruits, flowers, spices, and herbs, these caffeine-free infusions are often rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Many herbal teas are believed to offer digestive benefits, helping to soothe stomach ailments and improve digestion. Others might have properties that promote relaxation and sleep, or even help boost the immune system. From potentially reducing inflammation to supporting heart health, each herbal concoction brings with it a unique set of properties.

Hawthorn Tea To Support Heart Health

I like to have some herbal teas to hand especially ones that have therapeutic benefits. I talked about Hawthorn tea recently. I am drinking this tea to support my heart health alongside a healthier lifestyle too. The gentle, slightly tangy flavor of the tea might not be everyone's cup of tea. I have to say I am not a big fan of herbal teas, in terms of taste, their potential therapeutic benefits are hard to ignore. Hawthorn tea is an ideal addition to your healthy heart regime. It's believed to be beneficial in maintaining regular blood pressure levels. I drink one cup mid morning and one cup mid afternoon. The brand I choose is Floradix Salus Haus Hawthorn, each tea bag contains organic hawthorn leaves and flowers.

Lemon Verbena Tea To Relieve Stress

Recently, I mistakenly picked up a box of Floradix Salus Haus Lemon Verbena, confusing it for my usual Lemon Balm. I don’t know how as the box is a totally different colour to the Lemon Balm. Instead of returning it, I opted to explore its benefits. To my delight, I discovered that Lemon Verbena is traditionally consumed as a post-dinner digestive aid and is renowned for its calming properties. It's believed to help alleviate stress and nervous tension, making it a fitting addition to my evening routine. That suits me perfectly so it will become a regular tea in my little tea caddy. I will have my cup of Lemon Verbena in the evening to help me unwind after the busy day.

Lemon Balm Tea To Aid Relaxation

Another favourite of mine is Lemon Balm, I use the Floradix Salus Haus Brand also. I like this one because it is helpful to aid relaxation and anxiety. It was used as far back as the Middle Ages to reduce anxiety and stress, and to promote sleep. You will see it in a lot of supplements that help sleep or ones that aid relaxation. I would drink Lemon Balm in the evening, it would be Lemon Balm or now the Lemon Verbena, one or the other.

A customer’s favourite is to take one Lemon Balm and one Camomile tea bag in the one cup and leave to sit for five minutes. They drink this about one hour before bed. She told me that it works a treat for her every time she needs to unwind and relax to get a good night’s sleep. Camomile is traditionally used to soothe digestion and has a reputation in helping with sleep. The lady says she has used it on and off for years and it always works, so I thought I would share this tip with you.

Herbal Tea For Immunity

This time of year, Pukka Elderberry and Echinacea Tea is a great one to have in the cupboard, this one does taste nice. Elderberry is traditionally used for respiratory support and has antiviral properties; Echinacea too has antiviral properties and is known to help support the normal function of the immune system. Other teas to have in the cupboard to help when colds are about would be ginger. You could also make a mug of tea using a slice of ginger, some lemon, and a spoonful of manuka honey. This would help you deal with the symptoms of a cold.
