Last week myself and AoifeRose had a chat about ways to get motivated for the new year and we decided to share some supplements that might help you achieve your fitness goals.
If you are worried about getting colds and flu if you go out and about mixing with people, I suggest Irish Botanica Revive Immunity. It contains Vitamin C in an absorbable form alongside Zinc. These two vitamins work well together to support and protect your immune system.
Energy is often another reason or excuse why you don’t make it to the gym or get out for the fresh air walk. Diet, lifestyle, and good quality sleep have a huge impact on your energy levels. You are most likely cutting back on sugars, excess refined carbs, alcohol, and caffeine so what else can you do? Make sure you have a varied wholefood unprocessed diet that includes plenty of water. Make sure that you are getting enough Omega 3 either through food or you can top up with supplements. There are vegan options available if you prefer. A healthy diet will help maintain your energy levels.
Supplement to help with sleep
If your energy is still low despite eating wide and varied healthy diet, maybe you are not getting adequate sleep. You could be in the bed for a decent amount of hours but if your sleep quality isn't good then you won't wake up refreshed. Repair and recovery can be compromised too. If you need something to help you to get a better night's sleep try Irish Botanica Seesta. This is a brilliant supplement, well at least it is for me. I love it, I don’t have to take it every night, not now anyway. It helps me switch off my busy mind, helps my body relax and I fall straight back to sleep if I do wake up. It contains Ashwagandha, Chamomile, Hops, and Magnesium. I love this product.
What can help poor recovery after excercise?
Maybe your recovery after exercise is poor and pain and discomfort are slowing you down. AoifeRose said that this is a common problem that can often put people off going to the gym or continuing with their exercise routine. Not stretching properly, not drinking enough water are two of the most common reasons for this discomfort. AoifeRose suggests Magnesium as it is ideal to help relieve sore muscles after training. It can act as a muscle relaxant and can help support recovery of tired and aching muscles. There are lots of different types of magnesium to choose from, powders, liquids, and capsules. AoifeRose likes Cleanmarine Magnesium as it is in a nice easy to swallow capsule. You can choose whether to take one or two capsules per day depending on your diet and needs.
Ashwagandha supports recovery after exercise
Ashwagandha is an extremely versatile supplement to support energy, help overcome the effects of stress and to help recovery after exercise. It can certainly tick some of the boxes listed above and might be the answer if you want an all-round supplement to support recovery after exercise and to help keep stress under control too. There are lots of types of Ashwagandha supplements available. Take a look at KSM-66 Ashwagandha this is a specific, highly concentrated full-spectrum form of Ashwagandha root extract. It is known for its high potency and standardised production process. This is the most researched and widely used form of the herb and is known for its potency and is a trusted form of Ashwagandha. I like One Nutrition Ashwagandha as it also contains Zinc and Magnesium both important for recovery after exercise. You can take one or two capsules per day.
