How to look after your skin in the summer

I think we all love the summer, but the warm and dry weather can have a negative impact on your skin.  Warm sunshine, summer breezes, pollution, or dry rooms can all affect your skin. You may need a helping hand to keep its healthy summer glow.

Hydration both inside and out is a great place to start. Drink plenty of water, coconut water is a good option as it is loaded with electrolytes which are lost through sweating.

Avoid the usual suspects, alcohol, fizzy drinks, coffee, and sugar. Avoid foods that are highly processed this will include breads, cakes, pastries and pies. I know, it is all the things we love. So as far as I am concerned it is moderation in everything. So have a little treat and balance this then with a healthy that is rich vegetables of all colour as well as plenty of green leafy ones. Eat lots of  fresh fruit, especially berries, have whole grains. Aim for a variety of  seeds like chia, flax, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Have a variety of good quality protein foods, and healthy sources of omega oils and this mix will all help keep your skin looking fresh.

Natural skin care products for a healthy glow

There are lots of amazing skin products to help hydrate from the outside:

Choose good quality oils or creams on your face and body to help with hydration from the outside in. Skin exfoliation, or dry skin brushing is a great way to get rid of dead skin cells, to get the circulation going, and will help your skin glow. This is an inexpensive way to look after your skin.  For example, it is very easy to make your own sea salt scrub. Here is a simple recipe for a Revitalising Scrub. All you need is 1/2 cup of fine sea salt, 1/4 cup of coconut oil, 8-10 drops of an essential oil of your choosing. This could be rose, lavender, geranium, or peppermint for an invigorating scrub. Always choose pure essential oils like Tisserand. Mix it all together in an empty jar, store in the container for up to a month. Use on damp skin in the shower and gently massage your skin paying attention to the rougher areas like your elbows and heels. Rinse of and you should have glowing soft skin. These scrubs are very easy to make and are great for your skin. You can use sugar instead of salt if you want a scrub that you could use on your face.

Trilogy Rosehip Antioxidant Oil is a certified organic facial oil, and is one of my favourite Trilogy Oils. I use it after cleansing in the morning and evening. It hydrates, evens out my skin tone, and brightens my complexion. I love how my skin looks when I use this oil. Being rich in antioxidants makes it a great choice for anyone concerned with premature ageing or pollution damage.
